Health Literacy is the ability of individuals to obtain and understand                basic health information in order to make appropriate health decisions.
Today everyone must know the facts, the choices, and be able to make decisions along with his/her medical professionals in this increasingly complex information (and misinformation) environment.

Health literacy has become vital and most of what we learn about health happens outside of the medical office.

Beyond your own health, you may also seek information in order to make informed choices about your family's health, health insurance, and a healthy environment for the community.

Our health resources are meant to aid in your online research and learning in these areas.

While the site provides a general overview on hundreds of health subjects, it also offers special sections on particular health topics for children, minorities, men, women, and seniors.
Choose the “Health Topics A-Z” link if you know the specific disease or condition you’re searching for.
